Sandy Owens began his serious photography efforts in 1995 when he lived in Atlanta, Georgia. Since that time, he has studied and practiced the art of photography.

In November 2003, Sandy and his wife Chris, an artist, moved to Bozeman, Montana, to fulfill their dream of living in the West. Since moving to Bozeman, Sandy has immersed himself in the scope and beauty of the West and it is reflected in his photography. He seeks to capture the essence of the West whether the subject matter involves old structures, sprawling landscapes, vast skies or ranch dogs. Sandy believes that sepia toned and black and white photographs best suit his work.

His work may be seen at Tierra Montana, Artists of the Americas, located at 116 N. Main Street, Livingston, MT, 59047 (406.222.3000). Please visit their web site at www.tierramontana.com. In June 2006, he held a successful one man show at the gallery, Ranch Dogs: Partners in the Land.

Sandy has received numerous awards for his work and his photographs have been selected for several juried exhibitions. His photographs have been published in Montana Pioneer, Explore, Tributary, Range Magazine and Big Sky Journal.

He enjoys assignment work for clients that seek pictures for their web sites and other uses. He took many of the pictures of artists’ work on Tierra Montana’s web site. In addition to the Montana Tierra web site, you may see an example of his web site photography at www.josiesbozemanbb.com, a lovely Bozeman B&B. If you would like for Sandy to take some pictures for your web site, call or email him about your needs.
